Table Mountain in Cape Town has been voted as one of the New7Wonders of Nature.
It means people on South Africa holidays will be able to see a sight of breathtaking natural beauty.
Mariette du Toit-Helmbold, chief executive officer of Cape Town Tourism, said the whole country is "standing proud" after the announcement.
She added there is expected to be an increase in the number of travellers who visit the destination as a result of the accolade.
Ms du Toit-Helmbold went on to note everyone is "very, very excited about the win" and the potential benefits it will bring for the nation.
The other six locations selected for the programme are the Amazon, Halong Bay, Iguazu Falls, Jeju Island, Komodo and Puerto Princesa Underground River.
An official inauguration ceremony will take place in early 2012 once the results have been independently verified.
Earlier this year, Cape Town was named as the world's top destination at the annual TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards.
