South African tech moguls launch mobile travel app
South African technology producers Tourism Radio have launched their ‘Walking Tour of Cape Town’ mobile phone application under their partnership with Cape Town Tourism.
The new audio guide, designed to enhance guests’ visits to the Cape is now available on iPhone and comprises quality voiceovers, text copy about various tourist attractions and ongoing audio clips that provide a reliable companion on your holidays to South Africa.
CEO of Tourism Radio, Mark Allewell said: “Cape Town Tourism joins an elite group of tourism authorities all over the world by using our innovative technology.
“Coupled with their great travel content, this app gives users the opportunity to explore Cape Town from a different angle.”
With the rise of smart phones and tourism technology, travellers are equipped to make the most out of their holidays more than ever before.
With Table Mountain, Green Point World Cup Stadium, the Cape of Good Hope, Chapman’s Peak and Robben Island a short ferry ride away, Cape Town possesses its fair share of tourism hotspots.
Modern-day travellers are more empowered than ever before and are no longer content to take part in the traditional guided coach tour explains Cape Town CEO, Mariette du Toit-Helmbold.
“Today’s urban travellers are highly pedestrian.
“Not content to see and hear things from behind the windows of a tour bus, they are engaging with the streets and the people on them,” she explained.
“Cape Town Tourism’s commitment to digital marketing stands firm as we continue to unlock the destination through digital and social media platforms including apps like this one.”
The Cape Town app is just the latest in a long string of similar innovations that compliment cities the world over.
