South African Airways (SAA) has launched an online photography competition that encourages anyone experiencing a South African holiday to enter.
The competition – open to both residents of the UK and South Africa – is called Capture South Africa, and is set to highlight the beauty of South Africa by showcasing images under two categories – people and landscape.
SAA is asking entrants to upload up to five photographs for either category online at www.capturesouthafrica.com. A select panel of judges – each with a unique link to South Africa – will select an overall winner in October, with the images being judged on emotion, quality, and originality.
South Africans will be pitted against visitors to their homeland in order to offer a contrasting perspective of the country, whether through recent images or photographs taken in the past.
Jon Danks, Head of UK&I Marketing and Communications, SAA said “We want to understand what South Africa means to people, whether that’s an experience in the last five minutes or a lasting memory from the past. We want to gain a unique perspective from those living with such beauty on their doorstep through to those visiting for the first time. As the national airline we bring the world to Africa, and via this competition, we aim to showcase South Africa to the world.”
The airline hopes the competition will attract plenty of interest, while also increasing visitor numbers to South Africa.
SAA offers daily and overnight flights from Heathrow to Johannesburg, as well as flights on to over 30 destinations in South Africa.
