Namibia is a fantastic location to visit and has a unique character, it has been claimed.
Because of the quality of the country, individuals on holidays to South Africa – which shares a border with Namibia – may be tempted to go and discover the region.
Ndapona Schleberger, international operations and marketing manager at the Namibia Tourism Board, said in terms of tourism "2011 has been a good year".
Ms Schleberger observed that because there are only two million people in the state, there are plenty of opportunities to be alone and get up close and personal with nature.
"You can imagine how unspoiled the landscape … is, we are doing very well for such a small country," she added.
The specialist was speaking at the World Travel Market – a four-day business-to-business event – that was held in London last month.
According to Lonely Planet, Namibia boasts some of the most diverse wildlife in the world.
