With winter set in at home, many people are beginning to think about their summer getaways to sunnier climes.
But while the countdown to South Africa holidays is well and truly on, it seems many Brits are neglecting to take out travel insurance.
New research from MoneySupermarket.com shows over half (58 per cent) forget to sort out cover when they book their trip.
"Holidays often mean precious family time, and having cover in place as soon as you book your holiday ensures real peace of mind," says Bob Atkinson, travel insurance expert at the price comparison site.
"Cover doesn't have to break the bank."
It is important to inform the insurance provider of the destination you plan to visit, as cover varies depending on whether you are travelling in Europe or the rest of the world.
Failing to tell the insurer could mean loss of cover, so it pays to take these steps when booking a holiday in South Africa.
