Leading global hire car brand Hertz are anticipating a fruitful year for South African tourism in 2013 and will once again maintain distribution of their free in-car audio travel guides for customers of the firm.
Hertz South Africa has operated in tandem with South African brand Tourism Radio since 2010 and has offered the smart technology as an add-on service aiming to boost levels of customer satisfaction and assistance ever since.
The in-car technology is built around the traveller and is therefore as easy to use as possible and simply plugs into the cigarette lighter of the hire car vehicle and transforms the on-road experience for travellers.
Tourists will receive a tailor-made guide to dispel the potential for themes such as travelling in the wrong direction, taking the wrong turn or deciding what to do for the day.
Having been in use since 2010, the customer response has been positive according to Wayne Scheltema, Hertz Branch Manager at Cape Town International Airport, who noted “We have partnered with Tourism Radio for a number of years and the feedback from our clients has been very positive.
“It is an excellent offering to our renters, and the fact that it is free is a great value add.”
The likelihood is that there is a potential for more in-car audio guides to be in operation in 2013 than ever before with Cape Town Tourism releasing a report earlier this year confirming that there is a figure of six to eight per cent, regarding year on year tourism growth in South Africa’s tourism industry.
