Individuals who are looking to enjoy a trip to Kenya should get a local guide to show them around.
This is the advice of Angie Sloan, Kenya Tourist Board UK director, who noted it is easy to arrange such a service for those on holidays to Kenya.
People who take up this option may find out much more information about some of the destinations than others who are on vacation.
According to Ms Sloan, Fort Jesus is a "must-see" location.
"Its monumental architecture is steeped in history and the fort houses a museum, displaying a selection of interesting artefacts from its past," she added.
Travellers who find themselves in Mombasa – which is the second largest city in the country after Nairobi – can also visit the Hindu temples.
Ms Sloan observed these are one of the "highlights" of the area and offer people an insight into the religious history of Kenya.
