Explore the Great Rift Valley on a Kenya safari

People planning a trip to Africa and considering where they want to go might like to consider a stop at the Great Rift Valley, a huge stretch of natural land that covers a large portion of continent.

One of its particularly deep points is just north of Nairobi, making it an ideal excursion for those looking to go on a Kenya safari. Visitors could walk to the shores of two lakes, known as Naivasha and Nakuru.

The former is home to a variety of animals, from small to large. Hippos and birds can often be found here because the water is fresh. In contrast, the latter is encrusted with alkali and soda but the large amounts of flamingos that gather there do not seem to mind.

British explorer John Walter Gregory noted the size of expanse – which stretches all the way to Mozambique – leading him to give it the name the Great Rift Valley.
